English Subtitler

We are working with one of the world’s leading international subtitling and dubbing companies, which is currently looking for an English Language Lead (Subtitler) to join its team in London. This is a hybrid role, hence working from the office in London three times a week is required. Our client has been operating for 35 years and offers foreign-language versioning services, such as voice-over, dubbing, subtitling and translation in over 80 languages. Their client portfolio includes BBC, Disney, Discovery Channel, HBO, DreamWorks and NBCUniversal. Key accountabilities Being the expert in the English language, ensuring you stay up to date with the latest grammar/spelling rules and regulations Evaluating tests for potential new freelance suppliers Training new staff on subtitling software and guidelines, as required Testing new tools related to any tasks undertaken by the team Creating/updating language/subtitling guidelines for in-house and external resources Advising on client subtitling/language guidelines as necessary Producing English subtitles/closed captions, transcriptions, translations, accessibility scripts and voice-over scripts for corporate videos, broadcast material and VOD platforms for various high-profile clients from all sectors of the media and public sector QCing/prepping/exporting files Providing in-house linguistic assistance Proofreading a range of material from rushes to technical texts Proofreading internal policies/documentation, as well as external company communications/presentations/RFPs, as required Essential Skills and Experience English speaker to native standard 2 years’ subtitling experience in a translation / localisation environment Proven experience working with various subtitling specs and software, ideally EZTitles and Ooona Proven proofreading experience in a professional capacity Excellent organisational and time management skills Ability to work independently in a fast-paced work environment Attention to detail and accuracy Self-motivated and ability to use their own initiative Technically minded and quick to learn new tools Interested?
